Pine Lake Country Club is seeking a highly motivated, career-driven Assistant Superintendent-in-Training (AIT) to join our championship agronomy team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Spanning 157 acres, our private 18-hole course features premium Bermuda grass fairways, Better Billy Bunkers, Toro 2-wire irrigation system, and newly updated TifEagle greens. Having recently wrapped up an extensive, multi-million-dollar course transformation led by architect Jeff Lawrence and Aspen Golf, this role offers an exceptional environment to learn modern turf management utilizing state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Working directly alongside our Golf Course Superintendent and Assistants, you will gain hands-on, fast-tracked training to prepare you for a future leadership role within the elite turfgrass industry. Opportunities for continuing education and networking events are provided for growth. Potential for promotion within 6-12 months depending on performance.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations: Assist with crew management, daily course setup, and execution of elite playing conditions.
Chemical Application: Learn and execute calibrated spray programs, precise chemical mixing, and fertilizer applications.
Irrigation Management: Master water management on our newly upgraded system, including troubleshooting and routine scheduling.
Leadership Development: Supervise, train, and motivate seasonal maintenance crew members to maintain club standards.
Agronomic Planning: Participate directly in decision-making, soil testing, and strategic turf health programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Enrolled in or graduated from a Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related certificate/degree program.
Experience: Minimum of 1–2 seasons of golf course or landscape maintenance experience.
Licensing: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a North Carolina pesticide applicator license within 90 days.
Attributes: Strong work ethic, positive attitude, sharp attention to detail, and a deep eagerness to learn. Must PLAY GOLF!
Physical Demands: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary/Wages: $19.00 – $22.00 per hour (dependent on experience).
